What am I paying for in the monthly Service User's Charges (SUC)?

A basic monthly Service Users Charge (SUC) in the UK would usually include the following: Use of the offices with fixtures, message handling system, use of electricity, water, air conditioning, plant maintenance, cleaning, reception staff and right to use reception, upkeep and maintenance and redecoration.

Some of these services are offered by suppliers without having to rent an office. These are called non-occupant services. There are in general three to four options, such as only conference room usage, only fax-email usage, only message taking or full facility. In the last option, use of the fax, photocopier and secretarial help is at hand as and when required. It is also an advantage to be able to give business clients a permanent and prestigious address, fax and telephone number to give a professional impression if your business is not in a position to acquire a more permanent premise. Serviced office receptionists can answer the telephone with the name of your company.

How long must I rent the office for?

Depending on requirement, offices can be offered for as little as one day through to a number of years. Some suppliers even offer daily or hourly rental of boardrooms or conference rooms for companies that need space for those important meetings or interviews etc in an environment that speaks professionalism.

Initial costs for business centres

Normally you will be asked to pay a refundable credit advance, first month's service user's charge and the membership of the centre so that you will be entitled to use the centre at other locations of the group if the chain of centres is available.
