Dumbarton is less than an hour from Glasgow and sits at the mouth of the River Clyde.
The key to the town’s original success was the outcrop of volcanic rock, now home to Dumbarton Castle. The main A82 road links serviced offices in Dunbartonshire to Glasgow and the western Scottish Highlands. Railway services link Helensburgh in the west, through Glasgow Queen Street, to Edinburgh Waverley in the east.
