Area history and pop culture
Farringdon is covered by two wards: Farringdon Within and Farringdon Without. The names date back to 1394 and refer to whether the ward falls inside or outside the London City Wall. Over time, both wards have been significantly reduced and when talking of Farringdon, most people today informally refer to the area centredaround Farringdon rail station.
Population and demographics
Farringdon is a distinctly urban area consisting mainly of offices, restaurants, bars and clubs. As such, the population of the area is consists of around 1000 people, most of whom are between 20 and 44 years old.
Due to its central location, Farringdon is easily reachable via public transport. A mainline over-ground rail connection, served by Thameslink, travels directly into Farringdon station from London Liverpool Street, opening up travel to the north of England and beyond. The Thameslink network also offers the Gatwick Express train from Farringdon—a one-hour long direct link to your international client base, via Gatwick Airport.
As well as bus routes 4 and 172 stopping in the area, there are many Barclay’s City Bike locations where tenants can park their hire bikes, should they choose to cycle.
Nearby Barbican underground station operates services along the Hammersmith & City, Circle and Metropolitan lines, connecting tenants to the rest of London.
